LAST CALL: Ram Samocha – No Way Back. UPCOMING: Jiri Ladocha solo show & TIAF!

Ram Samocha’s solo show of 3D metalpoint drawings closes at 5 pm on Sunday, October 14.  Be sure to stop by if you haven’t yet seen this groundbreaking exhibit!

Next Thursday, October 18th, we welcome you to join sculptor Jiri Ladocha at the reception for his first solo exhibition at the Julie M. Gallery, 6 – 9 pm.  The majority of work shown in To Hell With Posterity was created after 2007. This includes pieces from series such as H.2.0, Summertime, Mercury Run, Black Squares, and Of Time and the River, to name a few.  His latest series, Wave, is inspired by the physics of water, which manifests in complex snaking bends in 3 x 5’ sheets of plywood.

The Waves are ambitious masterworks that may be paired as diptychs.  Products of impressively original artistic vision, they reflect the constant expansion of Ladocha’s technical and aesthetic horizons—this is an artist who never repeats himself.  The large scale of the Waves sets them apart from earlier series.  They are finished in either reflective aluminum leaf or a velvet black created by coating graphite in beeswax.  Both horizontal and vertical Waves will be featured!

New Works by Itamar JOBANI!

We have just received two new Itamar Jobani topographical sculptures.  Both figures are made entirely from plywood but their expressions are polar opposites—one seems meditative, while the other’s jaws stretch in a scream of rage.  Stop by the gallery to view this unlikely pair of sculptures together.

Yes, we will indeed be open on Family Day! Also, freshly published artist intros are now online.

We at the Julie M. Gallery hope you have a wonderful winter long weekend!  Stop by the Distillery to enjoy fine art and a stroll while the weather holds up.

And since February can be so very gray, we’ve also spiced up our website with short introductions to each of our artists!  Just click on any name in our roster to find a paragraph on that artist’s motivations, materials and most acclaimed shows, followed by the traditional CV, of course.
